Editorial Standards Policy
At Jam Press, we are committed to producing accurate, engaging, and high-quality journalism that meets the highest professional and ethical standards.
We value editorial independence, factual reporting, and respect for copyright.
Jam Press adopts the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) Editors’ Code of Practice and ensures all editorial staff are trained and operate within these guidelines.
Editorial Process
Story Ideation and Planning
Our news coverage is built from a wide range of sources, including:
- Local, national, and international media
- Press releases from commercial, government, and emergency services organisations
- Courts, tribunals, and public inquiries
- Freelance reporters, photographers, and agency partners
- Breaking news and live events
- Social media and digital platforms
- Academic research and scientific journals
- Reader tip-offs and Jam Press submissions channels
- Creative ideas generated around the news agenda
Editorial teams meet daily to pitch, prioritise, and assign stories. Senior editors lead these discussions, evaluating ideas based on:
- Newsworthiness and editorial value
- Relevance to our publishing partners
- Commercial potential
Stories are then allocated to reporters, who are briefed and supported by editors throughout the production cycle.
Content Creation
Staff Reporters
Our journalists:
- Research stories thoroughly, reviewing past coverage and identifying fresh angles
- Conduct interviews by phone, email, or social media to verify facts and develop new lines
- Secure copyright and licensing in line with our Rights Policy
- Liaise with editors before drafting to confirm any shift in angle or focus
- Produce copy adhering to Jam Press’s House Style and Writing Guide
- File to editors for checks and revisions

We also work with freelancers, contributors, and content partners. Submissions may arrive via:
- Direct emails to our news and picture desks
- Our owned channels, e.g., Instragram, and content portals
- Direct contact with reporters or editors
All submissions are assessed by editors for news value, accuracy, and licensing compliance.
Where necessary, Jam Press staff may enhance or verify third-party material.
